Note: Super Ima Sunday Check-Ins are the brainchild of Leigh Ann over at The Frugal Ima. Since I'm not an ima (yet), here's my SuperLady Sunday Check-In.
How is it mid-May already? The Hazz and I have been married over 11 months. Fastest. Year. Of my LIFE. A great year. I'm saving all that mushy, I love him so much stuff, for our actual anniversary and the post for it. But I still can't believe it's May already.
It's cold and WINDY here at Beit Stein. The neighbor's widowmaker tree branch finally fell (safely) into their yard, but we noticed that two houses down from us, there's another one, hanging scarily over the driveway. It was 45 degrees this morning for Sunday school, and I had to wear tights? Seriously? On May 15th? Ugh, I'm so ready for Birkenstocks, and flow-y skirts, and hikes in the park without sixteen layers.
My mom came in today for a belated Mother's Day trip to our Art Museum's Frank Lloyd Wright special exhibit. It was sooo worth the hour long wait. We chatted and got caught up, and then had a ton of fun looking at all of his sketches. After reading Loving Frank, it was so great to actually see not only photos of Taliesin, but drawings in his hand. I really hope I can visit there this summer or sometime soon. It's so great that little Wisconsin has such a giant in architecture. It's so inspiring to me to think about living in an organic environment, and it really makes me value the view out of my backyard into a woods. Even if it's not a very deep woods, we are really lucky to have such a lovely home for our first home together.
Our garden is in the plans. I've never gardened before, but I have the perfect spot that gets the right amount of sun and isn't too much in the way of the Hazz's football field (he loves the backyard). So, I'll be able to plant my peppers, tomatoes, and herbs without them getting trampled by footballs and frisbees. Woo hoo! The plan I think is the next couple of weekends to get it started. I'm going to make the corners of the field for our community's garden harvest. So excited! Any advice?
We have a lovely bird feeder, and we've spotted a lot of really great birds including cardinals, indigo buntings, and lots and lots of canaries. (FYI: This iphone app is AMAZING!)The birds are a bit camera shy and especially like to come and visit on Shabbat when they know I can't snap their picture. I'll end this post with one of my favorite shots thus far.

How was your week? You're doing great -- and you look great, too!
Good luck with your garden and a what a wonderful way to keep the mitzvah of pe'ah. I hope it goes well for you. I don't have a garden but hope to grow some more things in potted plants. Let's see how that goes :) I've managed to keep a basil plant alive since this January - a personal record ;)
ReplyDeleteAs for Shabbat... oh, I always get all my *best* (song) writing ideas on Shabbat... when I can't write them down or record them ;) I think it's God's private, little joke :)
Bivrachah,
