Making a House a Home

Well, we've been married for 15 whole months!  Plus!  I can't believe how fast the time has gone.   I also can't believe that we still have piles of crap stuff upstairs in boxes.  I told The Hazz a few days ago how stressed out I was that there were so many things I want to get DONE for the house.  So many things I want to happen, I want to create, I want to DIY.  (Perhaps I've been reading too many DIY home blogs of full-time bloggers with great hair and darling children.)

The Hazz's recommendation?  Make a list, Mrs.  Make a list of what you want to do and we'll do it.

And make a list I did.  Here's the list.  It goes on, and on and on.  I told The Hazz, "Well some of these things are not for right away.  Like the carpet in the black room."  (Yes, we have a black room, and no, I don't know anything about replacing carpeting.)  But some things are little things.  Things we COULD get done without any $$ at all.

For the kitchen alone...
  • Reorganize pantry
  • Organize utility closet and hang iron rack
  • Cover pantry shelves with something harder
  • Organize baking drawer
  • Sort meat/dairy cabinets
Look, Ma!  No more piles of paper, plastic, and reusable bags on the floor!  No more jumbled cleaning supplies.  No more knocking over everything to get the iron out.  I can't use a power drill to hang up an iron rack (behind the door)!  I can organize a closet.  Okay, one thing I can cross of my list!

One small step for a utility closet.  One giant leap toward... well, no where.  But, at least we have an organized utility closet.  Baby steps, right?

What small steps are you taking this week?
